It’s all About the Money…
WHAAAAT, it’s all about the money? We as marketers have had it drilled into our heads that’s it not about the money, it’s about the value we give. Right?
Will don’t worry I’m not going to contradict that. Delivering Value and helping others achieve their dreams and goals is what it’s about. Your success with your business is what gives others hope.
But, We have to talk about the Money
For those of you that don’t know me, I’m Elizabeth, my background is 30+ years in Manufacturing and Production. My job description included Quality Assurance, Statistical Process Control and Reporting production metrics. The things I loved in my cooperate world are the very same things I love today – Processes and Numbers.
While I am not a financial expert, I have always been good with money. Money is nothing more than a number that you track. Tracking is what I am good at. As we continue I will explain more and give you a few insights that can help you. After all I want you to succeed in your business endeavors.
It Starts With Your Money
When I first decided to start a business I was sitting at my desk at work it was 2012. Like wild fire the news came that 22 people were walked out. I remember feeling so sad and then worried about my friends that I'd worked with for years. In that moment I made a decision that I was not going to be a casualty. I was going to find a way to make a living on my own. Now I had no idea how I was going to do it, only that I was going to do it.
What started your journey? How did you decided to take this trip into the world of entrepreneurship? Did you want to make things better for your family? Did you want to supplement your current income, pay off your bills?
Whatever your reasons all good intended I bet….
You started spending money looking for a way to make money
Yes it takes money and yes you will have to invest in yourself and your company. That's why it all starts with your money. But, if you’re not careful you’ll end up more broke then when you started.
Going to help you with that.
Down the Rabbit Hole
Totally green and not knowing a thing about Network Marketing. I came across a YouTube video asking if I was having trouble getting leads for a company I was in…
Have you seen these videos or ads? I was like WOW awesome.
Next thing you know down the rabbit hole I went. Have you been down a rabbit hole?
Look at Alice when she fell down the rabbit hole. Y’ll know Alice right? She ended up in wonderland. Boy it’s beautiful with all the flowers and strange creatures. They talked and sang, but it was also contradictory and confusing. The Chester cat saying you can go this way or that. Everyone talking in rhyme and NEVER a straight answer. My favorite character is the Mad Hatter. While I loved him in the book, he is not very good out here in the real world when we are trying to start a business.
Remember it’s all about the money…
There are some people that will sell you anything. They’ll get you to buy something making it look all shiny and OMG if you buy now you’ll get this bonus or 5 great bonuses – oh my. Your heart starts racing, they start yell look how many just ordered. You hear the person saying you gotta this. Gonna to make you a millionaire or some kinda shit like that. They imply if you don’t get this you’re not going to succeed.
And before you know it you hit the button…. Don’t feel bad, I hit the button and drank the Kool-Aid.
It’s why I am here today to help you avoid the rabbit hole. I can because I’ve been down it.
Not everyone is trying to take your money. There are actually some very great people that want to help you succeed. The problem is knowing which are which. And that my friend you won’t know until you’ve been around awhile.

The lesson here is you must beware and discerning. Don’t fall for every shiny new thing or every smiling face.
Evaluate and Cut the Fat
One of my biggest and best tools is an ordinary excel spreadsheet. I live in excel weird I know. I’m going to give you one to track your money and what you are spending it on, in a minute.
Let’s Evaluate and cut the fat shall we. The worksheet I am giving you is for you to enter all the tools, resources you use in your business. Add your phone bill and internet too.
You’re going to enter the cost and how often you make payments. Once you have your list, evaluate and remove anything that you don’t use or need. You'll be surprised at how many things are on subscription which you keep paying for over and over. The secret is that they are usually low cost items and you don’t notice them. It’s like Magazines, you keep getting them and never read them after a while. But the bill is low so you don’t give it much thought and they keep coming.
There could be things that you’re paying monthly, if you switch it to an annual payment you could save on the cost. I personally have NO monthly payments on the tools I use. Consider making a copy of the worksheet to a new sheet. The first sheet is the tools the second sheet for all the free things.
